ACE Mentor Program Hosts 18th Annual Scholarship Breakfast; Bestows $60K in Scholarships and Four Industry Awards

The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia hosted 400 guests Thursday, May 23, 2019 for an annual scholarship presentation and awards ceremony at The Crystal Tea Room.

[Philadelphia, Pa.]  The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia, the local affiliate of the nation’s fastest-growing student mentoring program, hosted 400 friends of the design, construction, and academic communities Thursday, 23 May 2019 at the Crystal Tea Room for its 18th Annual Scholarship Breakfast & Awards Ceremony.

Eleven students received ACE scholarships totaling $60,000. Scholarships will enable students to continue their education in architecture, construction, and engineering fields through college or construction trade programs.

“Our annual breakfast directly supports our students,” said ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia Affiliate Director Tiffany Millner, AIA, NOMA. “In addition to highlighting the winning students, we also showcase the poise, talent, and successes of recent alumni who provide remarks throughout the program.”

ACE alumni Breanna Sheeler of WRT; Alexsis Davis, currently attending Temple University; Kenneth Murphy of Make the World Better; DeShaye Carter, currently attending Drexel University; Cornelius Middleton, a 2019 Rowan University graduate with a master’s degree in construction management; Amanda Ngov of WSP; and Jason Jiang of SITIO architecture + urbanism spoke during the breakfast about how the ACE Mentor Program shaped them personally and professionally.

ACE also presented four awards to industry leaders in Philadelphia design and construction community:

Person of the Year: Nick Bayer, Founder and CEO of Saxbys

Project of the Year: The Met Philadelphia, Revitalization of the Metropolitan Opera House

Organization of the Year: Cooper’s Ferry Partnership of Camden, N.J.

Partnership of the Year: CREW Philadelphia

Outstanding Mentor of the Year: Tim Stringfellow of Torcon, Inc.
