Please take a moment to read through this extensive email detailing FREE summer learning opportunities available to you through the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia.

ACE SUMMER SESSIONS

  • Virtual program consisting of recorded ACE360 Online sessions
  • Explore: Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Professional Development, Virtual Site Visits, and Program Activities & Projects
  • Choose what sessions you want to watch, when you want to watch them!
  • Access programming through Canvas (you will receive an invitation to join – check your spam folder if you don’t receive it)

JEFFERSON UNIVERSITY PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER ACADEMY

  • Jefferson’s award-winning College of Architecture and the Built Environment is offering a virtual summer design pre-college course for high school students to explore the architectural design fields including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, historic preservation and construction management. Juniors and seniors will learn from Jefferson faculty, alumni, and industry professionals, while participating in design projects, research projects and firm visits conducted in an online environment.
  • The virtual Architecture and the Built Environment Camp will be held daily from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm EST. All classes are held online, live via Zoom.

ALLAN MYERS VIRTUAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE

  • Allan Myers, the Mid Atlantic Region’s largest Heavy Highway contractor, aggregate and asphalt supplier, will be offering a virtual career experience for a limited number of junior and senior high school students this summer.
  • This Program will consist of eight 60-90 minute virtual sessions presented on Thursdays for 8 weeks, starting June 17th, including an in person visit to an Allan Myers large project to meet with Field Engineers, Superintendents, and Project Managers for Q&A (subject to most current COVID safety protocols). Exact time of day of all virtual sessions will be determined based on best available time in student schedules.
  • Upon completion of the Allan Myers Summer Virtual Experience Program students will receive: Consideration for a full-time, paid summer internship the following summer; a $200 Visa Gift Card (must participate in at least 7 sessions); an invitation to a networking event with current summer interns and entry level engineers (virtual or in person according to most current COVID safety protocols)

TURNER CONSTRUCTION PAID INTERNSHIP

  • Students will shadow various Turner employees and summer interns over a 4-week period
  • Learn about a day in the life of an estimator, engineer, etc.  
  • Observe and prep for meetings and presentations.  
  • Students will have a set schedule of 20 hours each week
  • Internship begins the week of July 11th
